Black-billed magpie

Magpies, members of the highly intelligent corvidae family, were a frequent and always appreciated sight when I lived in Saskatchewan, so were an easy choice for me to tackle. The long tail with its iridescent hints of blue or blue-green, and contrasting black/white colouration of the body show off nicely in this life-size carving. The pattern I created for this and a previous version has since been used by several other carvers.
